Mark McGuinn's opening song and title cut One Man's Crazy offers a creative melody and catchy hook. I enjoyed the album as a whole as it varied between old country and new country and provided quite a bit of originality. Rascal Flatts would find some interest in these songs, particularly the tune Turtle, which paints a very unique picture while structurally being able to build multiple harmonies. The ballad, Better a Painful End, brings together all that is great in country music, a beautiful two-part harmony, a sorrowful steel guitar and simple but real lyrics.
I thoroughly enjoyed this album but struggled at times to hear the vocals entirely and would have liked the lead vocals to have been a bit hotter at times. Mark's lyrics are so creative and imaginative; I did not want to miss a single word.
